
80-year-old Woman Killed in Hamilton Twp., NJ, Crash
An 80-year-old woman was killed in an accident in Atlantic County Tuesday afternoon.
The crash happened just after 4:00 at the intersection of Weymouth and Mizpah Roads in Hamilton Township.
Car vs. Truck Crash
According to police, a 1995 BMW 525, being driven by 80-year-old Janet Wooding of Mays Landing, was traveling northbound on Weymouth Road and was attempting to make a left turn onto Mizpah Road.
At the same time, a 2021 Kenworth T3-series truck, driven by 58-year-old James Birch of Estell Manor, was traveling southbound on Weymouth Road. Both vehicles collided in the intersection.
Wooding sustained traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
The roadway was closed for approximately four hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
Hamilton Township police were assisted by the Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad; the Mays Landing, Weymouth, and Laureldale Fire Departments; the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office; and the New Jersey Department of Transportation.
