Media Report: NJ Democrat for Governor Made Millions From Stock?

The Washington Free Beacon has reported that New Jersey Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill has increased her wealth by more than $ 7 million since becoming a Member of The United States House of Representatives.

The number could (allegedly) even be higher, because Members of Congress are only required to report their assets within a wide range.

The latest financial disclosure reports came out last Friday, May 2, 2025.

CONGRESSIONAL MEMBER FINANCIAL REPORTING IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH

More disclosure is required here and that “range” game needs to be changed, in favor of a more accurate and transparent reporting requirements for Members of Congress.

The Washington Free Beacon reports that Sherrill made hundreds of stock transactions since becoming a Member of Congress in 2019.

SHERRILL’S CAMPAIGN FOR GOVERNOR OF NEW JERSEY

Mikie Sherrill is currently the leading Democrat candidate for Governor of New Jersey.

This news is certainly not good for her campaign now in the Primary, or, in the General Election should Sherrill win the Democrat Nomination.

The Washington Free Beacon focused on “hundreds of stock transactions since her election of Congress, most notably during the COVID pandemic when, as a member of the House Armed Services Committee, she was privy the information that the general public was not,” the Free Beacon wrote.

Something has to be done about Members of Congress being able to trade stocks when they receive insider information that general American investors do not.

JOSH HAWLEY - THE PELOSI ACT

United States Senator Josh Hawley, R-Missouri has reintroduced a bill that would prohibit Members of Congress from trading, or, even holding individual sticks.

The bill is aptly called “The Pelosi Act.” It’s named after Nancy Pelosi, who has often been publicly criticized regarding her husband’s stock trading activities.

SHERRILL’S SPOKESWOMAN SPEAKS

Mikie Sherrill’s spokeswoman (Carly Jones) told the Washington Free Beacon:

“Mikie's life has been about public service, and she has been more than clear about her commitment to transparency and accountability in government," said Jones.

This could not come at a worse time for Mikie Sherrill, as the Democrat Primary for Governor of New Jersey is a close race between several candidates.
