A bit of history was made on Friday Night in Egg Harbor Township in the Battle at the Beach game between Millville and Holy Spirit.

The history happened when Millville wide receiver Lotzeir Books set a New Jersey state record for touchdown receptions in a career during the Thunder Bolts' 35-0 win over the Spartans.

Brooks' 53rd TD reception of his career surpassed Westwood's Nolan Borgerson record which stood for 11 years.

The record-breaking score came on a 44-yard score at the 10:21 mark of the third quarter.

The senior wideout finished Friday’s contest catching six passes for 200 yards and three touchdowns, one of which went for 98 yards.

The Alabama-commit entered his final season in Holly City with a South Jersey record 3,355 career receiving yards, which now has extended to 3,555.

Brooks previously pulled down 61 passes for 1,295 yards and 22 TD as a junior, 69 receptions for 1,089 yards and 14 TD as a sophomore, and 37 catchers for 971 yards and 15 TD as a freshman.

Brooks is 657 yards away from setting the state receiving yardage record of 4,212 also set by Borgerson.
