This update goes back to May, 2020, when legal controlling authorities began an investigation into a fire at the Arthur Brisbane Child Treatment Center.

This structure was formerly a sprawling mansion that also served as a psychiatric hospital, until it was was closed in 2005 due to complaints about the conditions.

It has been abandoned, since then according to a report from APP.

The structure sustained more than $3.5 million worth of damage and had to be demolished, authorities confirmed.

It has taken 18 months to bring formal charges against Evelyn V. Alvino, 20, of Pinellas Park, Florida.

Alvino has been charged with aggravated arson, burglary, criminal trespassing, and criminal mischief, according to the New Jersey State Police.

Prior to the fire and necessary demolition, the structure had qualified to be recognized as a historic property.

Alvino was extradited to New Jersey on November 30, 2021 from Pinellas County, Florida.

Investigators learned that Alvino fled New Jersey and was staying at a home in Pinellas Park, Florida, where she was apprehended.

The investigators believe that Alvino entered the building to burglarize it and then allegedly set the fire, which engulfed the mansion.

The mansion was built in the early 1800’s.
