Decades later, a love letter found in this New Jersey home has finally reached its recipient: a 96-year-old WWII veteran.

Melissa Fahy tells WCAU-TV she found the letter under the stairs while renovating their new home in Westfield.

The letter was written by Virginia Christoffersen for her husband, Rolf, while he was away serving as a sailor for the Norwegian Navy. Touched by its beautiful words, Melissa immediately went to Facebook in hopes to deliver the letter to its owner.

Thanks to the Westfield Moms Facebook page, Virginia and Rolf's son was tracked down in California and he was able to read the letter to his father.

Ready to cry? NBC Philadelphia mentions Virginia passed away six years ago, making this letter much more touching and sorrowful.

Here's an except of the letter courtesy of NBC Philadelphia:

“I love you Rolf, as I love the warm sun, and that is what you are to my life, the sun about which everything else revolves for me.”
