COVID-19 has claimed the lives of nine more Atlantic County residents, all of whom had pre-existing medical conditions.

The announcement from health officials in Atlantic County on Tuesday said eight of the nine lived in long-term care facilities.

The nine who died included a 72-year-old man from Buena Vista Township; an 85-year-old man from Hammonton; and an 83-year-old Pleasantville man; two people from Northfield, an 82-year-old woman and an 88-year-old man; and four Galloway Township residents, a 73-year old-man and three women who were 84, 88, and 91-years-old.

44 new cases were also reported on Tuesday among 22 men (ages 19 to 97) and 22 women (ages 25 to 91). The county total now stands at 1,860 case with 121 deaths.

40 more residents were cleared as recovered, bringing that total to 541.

Egg Harbor Township, Galloway Township - 6 each
Absecon, Pleasantville - 5 each
Hamilton Township, Northfield - 3 each
Ventnor City - 2
Linwood, Port Republic - 1 each

Meanwhile, officials in Cape May County reported one more death related to COVID-19 on Monday, an 87-year-old woman from Lower Township. Cape May County stands at 521 total positive cases with 41 deaths.

COVID-19 testing for Atlantic County residents will continue on Thursday at Hamilton Mall in Mays Landing. For a full list of qualifications and to make an appointment, visit the county's website.

As of May 18th, Atlantic County has tested a total of 1,342 residents at its drive-through test sites with 26% being confirmed positive, according to officials.
