
Bridgeton, NJ, Man Charged After Alleged Gun Incident Outside Gym

Argument in Gym Parking Lot Turns Into Arrest
Cops in Gloucester County say that an argument in a gym parking lot that ended with a gun allegedly being shown has led to the arrest of a man from Bridgeton.
Police Respond to Incident at LA Fitness
According to the Washington Township Police Department, at about 8:00 on Friday night, August 1st, their officers were called to LA Fitness on the Black Horse Pike for a report of a fight where a gun was brandished.
Officials say an off-duty New Jersey state trooper witnessed a confrontation from the gym and reported seeing a man and a woman arguing near some parked cars. The trooper then allegedly saw the man pull a handgun from his waistband and point it at the woman.
When officers arrived, both people had left; however, the woman contacted the police the next day to report the incident.
An investigation identified a suspect vehicle, which led to a suspect.
Arrest and Charges Filed
On Friday, 26-year-old Jacob Vanaman of Bridgeton turned himself in with his attorney. He has been charged with the following:
- Second-degree Aggravated Assault with a Weapon
- 2 counts of Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes
- Terroristic Threats
Vanaman was processed and taken to the county jail pending a court hearing.
