Monroe Township Police Recover Nearly 500 Grams of Suspected Heroin

Monroe Township, N.J. — Police say a proactive patrol led to a foot chase, a K-9 search, and the recovery of nearly 500 grams of suspected heroin in Monroe Township, Gloucester County.

The Monroe Township Police Department said two of its officers were conducting patrol operations in an unmarked vehicle when they spotted a U-Haul truck parked near Advanced Financial Solutions on Huber Avenue.

Further investigation revealed that the driver had allegedly entered the business's fenced-in property unlawfully.

Officers established a perimeter, and a department drone was deployed to assist with the search. Officers eventually located the suspect, who fled on foot. He was apprehended following a brief foot pursuit.

K-9 Odin was then deployed to search the surrounding area and located a bag containing 953 wax folds of suspected heroin and approximately 489 grams of suspected heroin in various forms of packaging, equivalent to roughly 17 ounces.

Police did not identify the suspect. He was charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession of heroin, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing the administration of law, and criminal trespass.

All individuals charged with a crime are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
