NJ Troopers: Man Arrested for DWI With Drugs, Gun, Machete in Burlington County
State Troopers say a man has been arrested on DWI, drug, and weapons-related charges following a traffic stop on the New Jersey Turnpike in Burlington County.
49-year-old Kevin A. Simmons of Teaneck was stopped around 5 AM this past Saturday in Mansfield Township, according to authorities.
During the stop, Trooper Jett determined that Simmons was under the influence and arrested him for DWI. After further investigation, Trooper Jett discovered that Simmons was also in possession of a .380 caliber handgun, a machete, and marijuana.
Simmons was charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of CDS with intent to distribute, and DWI.
He was being held in the Burlington County Jail pending a detention hearing.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
