
North Wildwood, NJ, cops respond to bomb threat at school
Authorities in Cape May County say a student got into trouble after making a joke about bringing an explosive device to school.
The North Wildwood Police Department says their officers responded to a report of a potential bomb threat at Wildwood Catholic Academy on the 1500 block of Central Avenue. Exactly when the incident took place was not included in a press release.
A report was made by school officials who stated that a student had made a "concerning statement about bringing an explosive device" to the facility.
As part of their investigation, the student and his parents were formally interviewed, and it was determined that the student’s statement was intended to be a joke.
Police searched the student's home; no weapons or explosives were found, and what the student said was deemed not to be credible.
The department said in a press release,
The North Wildwood Police Department will continue to work closely with local school officials and students to ensure a safe and secure environment for all students and staff.
