Ocean County, NJ, Cops: Candy Laced With THC Given Out to Kids on Halloween
If you or your children went trick-or-treating in one Ocean County neighborhood, some of the treats that you received may give you more than just a sugar rush.
According to the Stafford Township Police Department, a child out on Halloween near Anchor Avenue in the Ocean Acres section of the township received "Medic-8-ed Nerdy Bears," which contains THC, the main psychoactive compound that is found in marijuana.
One website that sells the laced candy describes it as, "Nerdy Bears are a sweet shareable treat, with a generous amount of Delta 8 that will knock you off your feet. The fruity gummy center, is surrounded by a tangy crunchy colored candy."
The generous amount of THC, according to the package, is 18.5mg of Delta 8 THC and is not for anyone under the age of 21.
Another website sells them for $13 per package, so the person who gave these out certainly felt a financial pinch.
If you received Nerdy Bears, you are asked to contact Stafford police at (609) 597-1000.
