Take a Wildwood icon - the Tram Car - and match it up against a monster truck, in a tug-of-war!

That's what's happening today at 1PM in front of the Wildwood Convention Center.

In anticipation of this weekend's "Monsters on the Beach" Monster Truck races, a Tram Car and the AmeriCrush Monster Truck will square-off in a tug-of-war. A chain will link the two vehicles, with the truck's 600 horsepower engine battling the Tram Car's 2,000 pound electric battery.

Today's event is open to the public.

From the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority, here's a look at this weekend's events:

‘The Monsters on the Beach’ Monster Truck Races will feature the country’s biggest trucks – including Bigfoot, Snakebite, Avenger, Brutus, Equalizer, Crushstation, Hot Tamale, and Lumberjack with a Memorial for Walking Tall – squaring off on a custom beach race course, located right on the Wildwoods beach between Lincoln and Spencer Avenues, between Mariner’s Landing Pier and Adventure Pier.

Qualifiers take place Friday, August 19 at 7 p.m., followed by races on Saturday, August 20 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, August 21 at 1 p.m. All races take place on the Wildwoods’ beach on a course carved from sand between Mariner’s Landing and Adventure Pier. Online general admission tickets for Friday’s qualifiers are $15 for adults and $10 for children. Tickets for Saturday and Sunday races are $30 for adults and $20 for children each day. Multi-day ticket packages are also available for both adults and children. To qualify for children’s tickets they must be 4-12 years of age. Children three and under do not need a ticket to enter. Gates will open one hour before the start time of each race allowing everyone access to the Pits where they can view the trucks and meet the drivers. The event will take place rain or shine.
