Joe O’Donoghue appeared today on “Hurley in the Morning” on WPG Talk Radio 95.5 FM in a wide-ranging interview.

O’Donoghue is the Republican challenger, facing Freshman Atlantic County Sheriff Eric Scheffler. He made a series of blistering assertions about Scheffler.

For starters, O’Donoghue confirmed that the details that I reported back on April 2, 2020 at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic we’re all true.

My report detailed what is believed to be the first positive case of COVID-19 involving a police officer in Atlantic County and the questionable job done by Scheffler.

Scheffler aggressively challenged the veracity of my report. I stood behind it then. I stand behind it now.

O’Donoghue also confirmed during our interview that the $ 200,000 Hope One Atlantic County vehicle, emblazoned with Scheffler’s name was involved in a recent crash.

This is the first public report of this crash (on-air this morning and here).

O’Donoghue stated on-air that Scheffler “has not handled it properly.”

O’Donoghue also confirmed that the driver of the vehicle at the time of the crash is the current Chief Warrant Officer for the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Department. O’Donoghue said that this employee was also a former Brigantine Chief of Police.

O’Donoghue said that the crash is presently under investigation by multiple law enforcement entities.

Here is a photo of the Hope One Atlantic County vehicle, which O’Donoghue says has approximately $ 15,000 worth of damage.

O’Donoghue confirmed that he has received numerous law enforcement endorsements, including: Cape-Atlantic PBA and the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Officers.

O'Donoghue has charged Scheffler with endorsement suppression. He said that Scheffler had a Sheriff’s department employee officially challenge the result of the Sheriff’s department endorsement. It has necessitated that another vote will have to take place.

The re-vote is set to take place in the very near future.

O’Donoghue has confirmed that he has more endorsements coming soon, along with a surprise announcement.
