[OPINION] Should Indicted Atlantic City Mayor Be Police Director?
With the latest Atlantic City Police Department incident involving Mayor Marty Small occurred … it really does beg the question … should the criminally indicted Small be allowed to serve the public as Director of Public Safety?
The answer would appear to be so basic and simple. Of course not!
Every reasonable person knows that this places an untenable situation for Chief Jim Sarkos and the Atlantic City Police Department.
This past Sunday, Jabuary 5, 2025, right after the NFL Philadelphia Eagles defeated the New York Giants (20-13), all heck broke out in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Marty Small showed up at a residence on Gramercy Avenue and refused to leave the scene until he could speak with his daughter.
It turns out that his daughter was not on the premises at the time.
There was at least 10 Atlantic City Police Officers on the scene … which does appear to be disproportionate to the circumstances.
The sheer amount of police presence at this domestic scene would appear to support the rationale that Marty Small shouldn’t be allowed to be the civilian director of the Atlantic City Police Department.
If Marty Small was not able to arrive to the scene in a large (taxpayer paid) SUV, that is fully equipped with the police lights and siren package … acting as a City Superior Official … would such a large contingent of the Atlantic City Police Department be on hand?
Of course not.
Atlantic City police department sources confirmed to us that Smalls’ daughter “telephoned Marty Small and was said to be in distress.”
Atlantic City activist, Steve Young took photos, video and audio. Mayor Small can be heard on Young’s audio recording using profanity towards Young.
Here are the Steve Young photos, directly as this Atlantic City Police Department- Marty Small incident was under way this past Sunday early evening.
