Opponent Challenges Sheriff On Migrants To Atlantic City, NJ Airport
Atlantic County, New Jersey Sheriff candidate Joe O’Donoghue is challenging the incumbent Sheriff, Eric Scheffler to join with him and oppose any attempt to bring migrants - that are currently in New York City - to the Atlantic City International Airport.
“I am a current EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP COMMITTEEMAN. The airport is in MY HOMETOWN IN MY COUNTY ALONG WITH THE HOME OF OUR heros from 177th Fighter Wing and the 119th Fighter Squadron that protects the entire East Coast,” said O’Donoghue.
“Let me be clear: this is absolutely unacceptable. Atlantic County is not the place for New York City to use for their problems. We are already overrun with homelessness, drugs and mental health issues. We are already at a critical tipping point here. Ignoring that, these immigrants should be safely returned to their home country. This would be devastating to Atlantic County's already massively overburdened social services, not to mention a massive tax increase!,” said O’Donoghue.
United States Congressman Jeff Van Drew, R-NJ-2 immediately came out strong declaring that he will use any and all power that he possesses to stop this migrant surge in the Atlantic City, New Jersey area.
The same for New Jersey Senator Vince Polistina’s, who said “Hell no” to this proposal.
The effect on government social services programs and the overall community impact would be significant.
State, County and local Democrat leaders must put partisan politics aside and join together to reject this terrible idea immediately.
Thus far, they have not spoken out about this issue.
It is unacceptable for any leader to remain silent during a critical moment of truth such as this.
The time to come together is now.
