We have learned at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 6, 2023 that there is a large oil slick in the Atlantic City, New Jersey bay.

It is located off of Albany Avenue, right near The Wonder Bar.

We have exclusive photos of exactly what it looks like at this hour.

A prominent area resident who was in the area reached out to me to share the news of this oil slick.

He described it as “a very large oil slick.”

He advised me that the spill is at least 100 yards in size.

I am certainly no expert on this topic, but, I do know that it’s important to act fast upon the news of such an occurrence as this.

There are things that can be done to help mitigate the contamination.

Chemical Dispersion is one method … by applying applying chemicals to remove oil from the water surface.

This method breaks the oil into small droplets.

They can also set fire to freshly spilled oil, while it is still floating on top of the water.

I went to MarineInsight.com to look up the various ways to cleanup oil spills such as this.

They listed a number of methods as follows:

Methods for Oil Spill Cleanup at Sea

  1. Using Oil Booms.
  2. Using Skimmers.
  3. Using Sorbents.
  4. Burning In-situ.
  5. Using Dispersants
  6. Hot Water and High-Pressure Washing.
  7. Using Manual Labour.
  8. Bioremediation.

I am reaching out to former Atlantic City Director of Emergency Management, Tom Foley … so that he can bring it to the attention of the right individuals, who can take action.

Developing.
