A head-on collision in Gloucester County Saturday night took the life of a 75-year-old Pitman man.

The accident happened around 8:15 p.m. Saturday night on Delsea Drive at Hollydell Drive in Washington Township.

Police say 31-year-old Thomas J. McAlorum II of Delanco crossed the center line of northbound Delsea Dr., hitting a vehicle being driven southbound by Clement Mitchell Jr. head on.

Mitchell Jr. was transported to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries, Courier Post reports.

McAlorum, who was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden to be treated for his own injuries from the crash, has reportedly is now facing a formal charge of death by auto, according to a media statement by Washington Twp. Police Captain Kenneth Kennedy on the department's official Facebook page.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing. Washington Township Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident to call 856-256-1212 or email sapinnelli@pd.twp.washington.nj.us.
