A Pleasantville man is headed to prison for pointing a gun at a store clerk last summer.

Last Thursday, March 12th, 19-year-old Javont Bell-Lowe was sentenced to five years in state prison, subject to a one-year parole ineligibility period, on a charge of second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's office said on the morning of August 13th, 2025, Pleasantville police officers responded to a call about a gun being pointed at an employee at a Dollar General store.

Bell-Lowe was later located walking northbound on South New Road with a fanny pack believed to have the firearm inside it. Once he spotted the officers, he discarded the fanny pack and fled on foot, eventually being captured a short distance later.

Officers recovered that fanny pack, and inside, they found a .45 caliber Glock 36, one hollow-point round, and five ballpoint rounds.

This case was investigated by the Pleasantville City Police Department. Assistant Prosecutor Frank Vizzi represented the State.
