
Police: Man Charged With DWI After Hitting NJ Transit Bus in Egg Harbor Twp.
Several people were injured early Sunday morning when a Mays Landing man allegedly crashed into a NJ Transit bus in Egg Harbor Township.
The accident happened around 3:45 AM at the NJT bus stop at the Black Horse Pike and English Creek Avenue.
The EHT Police Department says their initial investigation revealed that a NJT bus was stopped on the westbound side of the Black Horse Pike, letting passengers off near Lowe's and Walgreens, when a Kia being driven by Kennedy Doughty of Mays Landing struck the rear of the bus.
The NJ transit bus had a total of 10 passengers on board including the bus driver.
Injuries
Of the bus passengers, five sustained minor injuries and three were ultimately taken to Shore Medical Center for treatment.
Doughty sustained minor injuries and was also transported Shore Medical Center.
Charges
Police say Doughty was issued multiple motor vehicle summons including driving while intoxicated. Additional criminal charges are pending.
The westbound side of the Pike was closed for about an hour while the crash was cleared.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
