VENTNOR -- A standoff ended in gunfire and the apparent death of one man on Monday night.

Exact details of the incident are sketchy, but CBS Philly reported that a standoff developed with an armed man at a house at the intersection of Burghley and Dorset avenues.

The man had released his parents from the home when police and a SWAT team arrived, according to the report. He then came out of the home holding a gun and was fatally shot by police, the report said.

The Press of Atlantic City reported in a tweet that the state Attorney General's office was investigating the incident.
