The Atlantic City, New Jersey 2nd Ward City Council court-ordered recount has just been completed.

New Jersey Superior Court Assignment Judge Michael Blee ordered today’s recount due to the closeness (300-297) of the June Primary election.

Incumbent Councilwoman LaToya Dunston went into tonight’s recount with 3 vote lead over challenger Viana Bailey.

As a result of today’s official recount, Dunston has expanded her lead and doubled it to a 6 vote lead.

Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small has taken a keen interest in this election, because he considers Dunston a political enemy and because Small has lost majority support of the Atlantic City Council.

At several different election proceedings, Small has been present with an attorney who is representing challenger Bailey.

Sources have advised that Dunston’s victory will be upheld and the election results may be certified as early as this Monday, August 21, 2023.

More than two months after the Tuesday, June 6, 2023 Atlantic City, New Jersey Primary Election, a winner in the 2nd Ward City Council race still remained undecided.

Small led a scheme to have Dunston removed from the Regular Democrat Column A placement on the ballot, which was awarded to Bailey by Atlantic County Democratic Chairman Michael Suleiman to Bailey.

This gave Bailey a huge advantage, as it is very difficult to win when you're placed in a disadvantageous position on the election ballot.

Small has personally taken control of Bailey's election challenge phase, procuring her attorney and aggressively attempting to swing the election in Bailey's favor.

Judge Blee is also addressing the issue of the tight window of time with regards to contesting elections and the deadline to print the General Election ballot.

Dunston will be our on-air guest this Monday, August 21, 2023 at 8:00 a.m. on WPG Talk Radio 95.5
