Pleasantville, NJ, Woman Sentenced For Fatal Stabbing in Atlantic City
A Pleasantville woman has been sentenced for a fatal stabbing in Atlantic City back in 2018.
On Thursday, 33-year-old Rollie Ellis received 13 ½ years in state prison, subject to the No Early Release Act, following a plea agreement where she pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter.
Ellis had originally pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter in January 2020 and was sentenced to 20 years but that was later overturned on appeal when an appellate court ruled her Miranda rights were violated.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says on April 11th, 2018, Atlantic City Police found Jennifer Rodriguez unresponsive and bleeding from a wound to the back of her neck in the lobby of the Public Safety Building. Rodriguez was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Campus where she was later pronounced dead.
Investigating officers determined that Ellis had stabbed both Raphy and Jennifer Rodriguez inside their apartment in Atlantic City. When police made contact with Ellis, an ACPD officer observed a knife in her waistband.
Raphy Rodriguez identified Ellis as the perpetrator of those attacks.
