NEW BRUNSWICK — A Rutgers University part-time lecturer taken from his Brooklyn home by police who forced him to get a psychiatric evaluation at a hospital has been placed on administrative leave from his job.

Kevin Allred, who taught in the the undergraduate Women’s & Gender Studies Department at the New Brunswick campus, tweeted dozens of criticism of President-elect Donald Trump.

A tweet he wrote two days after the election was taken as threat, which led to the evaluation.

“[W]ill the 2nd amendment be as cool when i buy a gun and start shooting atrandom people or no …?” (sic) Allred said on the social media platform.

"We won’t comment on the specifics of an individual personnel matter. As a general rule, however, when the University is presented with allegations of threats to public safety, we take those allegations very seriously and have an obligation to investigate. Mr. Allred has been placed on administrative leave and will therefore not be teaching," university spokesman E.J. Miranda said Friday.

Allred, who sent numerous tweets about his evaluation has not directly addressed being suspended. He has posted a number of song titles he said are giving him inspiration, including Emile Sande's "Breaking the Law," Andrea Day's "Rise Up," the Dixie Chicks' "Not Ready To Make Nice,"  Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush's "Don't Give Up" and PJ Harvey's "Big Exit."

He also quoted a lyric from his own song called "Compromise:" "We may never see eye to eye / but i won't ever back down / this is the war i choose to fight..."  Another tweet was a picture of a baseball cap embroidered with the words "I Ain't Sorry."
