A Somers Point man is facing up to three years in prison in connection with a sex act with a young teenager.

On Monday, 30-year-old Tyrique Beckett pleaded guilty to third-degree endangering the welfare of a child in exchange for a recommended sentence of three years in state prison.

Incident Reported to Somers Point Police

According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, on October 21st, 2024, the Somers Point Police Department received a report of a sexual assault on a juvenile.

A family member of the victim provided police with a video that she received, sent from Beckett's phone, of him receiving oral sex from the 14-year-old victim.

Police interviewed the victim, and the victim advised police that Beckett did ask her for oral sex. The victim also reported that she was not aware he was recording her with his cell phone during this sex act.

Megan's Law Registration Required

In addition to the prison term, Beckett must register as a sex offender under Megan's Law, and he will be under parole supervision for life.

Sentencing is scheduled for December 15th.
