Franklin Twp., NJ, Police Officer Receives Award

A South Jersey police officer is being recognized for saving the life of a crash victim over Memorial Day Weekend.

The Franklin Township Police Department says on the evening of Sunday, May 28th, their officers were called to the 2000 block of Tuckahoe Road for a serious crash involving a motorcyclist.

The motorcycle driver had been struck by another vehicle, which caused serious, life-threatening injuries. The driver had part of his lower extremities severed from his body, which had caused severe bleeding.

Ofc. Thomas Rambone was on his way into work for his night work rotation in his personal vehicle. Officer Rambone heard the radio call for this incident and immediately responded to the scene. Officer Rambone began life saving actions that included the application of a tourniquet. The driver was subsequently airlifted to Cooper Hospital in critical condition.

Luckily, the motorcyclist has since recovered.

Information supplied to the police department from hospital staff and family of the victim have indicated that the actions taken by Officer Rambone saved this man’s life.

Rambone was named the Franklin Township Officer of the Month for May for his actions.
