St. Augustine Prep Standout Selected in MLB Draft

In the 36th round of today's MLB Draft, the Chicago Cubs drafted St. Augustine Prep pitcher Jayson Hoopes with the 1,092nd overall pick.

Hoopes, a Northfield resident, has already committed to the University of Virginia, and has been outstanding this season with a record of 6-0, with 58 strikeouts and a 1.53 ERA.

>He is also the probable starter for the Hermits in their Non-Public A state final tomorrow against Delbarton.
