On Veterans Day, Stockton University has received a prestigious award for their efforts regarding Veterans issues.

Stockton University has earned a “We Value Our Veterans” New Jersey Governor's Academia Award for its services to military students.

Stockton University received the award at the Veterans Day ceremony earlier today at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial in Holmdel.

Stockton Director of the Military and Veteran Success Center Michael Barany has confirmed that more than 7,300 active military and veteran students have attended Stockton University since its opening in 1971.

“This award represents our commitment to our military and veteran students,” said Barany.

Ashley Jones, assistant director of the Stockton Military and Veteran Success Center said she was proud to accept the award on behalf of Stockton.

Jones advised that colleges needed at least 70 points on the award criteria to earn the award. Stockton Univeesity had more than 90 points.

Stockton University has a long and distinguished record serving the Veterans community.

The award recognizes efforts made by colleges and universities to serve military and veteran students.

The efforts include:

  • Offering priority registration to veterans
  • Having a designated office and lounge for veterans, and a Student Veteran Organization.
  • Stockton also has a wall of honor and memorial and holds ceremonies to recognize Veterans Day.
  • The Stockton center’s services are also available to family members.

Under Stockton University President, Dr. Harvey Kesselman, they have made it a priority to properly engage and serve regarding Veterans affairs.
