Essex County correctional officer Sherman Bardouille, 31, from Irvington, and Tamir Lee, 42, a from Newark, were riding eastbound near Exit 43 in Berkeley Heights at the time of the crash Sunday evening.

Firefighters were sent to the two-story home on Maple Avenue in Berkeley Heights Saturday afternoon after cracks were reported in the basement wall.

WPG Chief Meteorologist Dan Zarrow said there doesn’t appear to have been a thunderstorm directly overhead at the time but there was a thunderstorm about 4 miles away in Lavallette.
