The state Turnpike Authority says it can't guarantee care for flags it didn't erect itself.

A group of E-ZPass users who were assessed $50 fines for each missed toll are appealing the Turnpike Authority's recent decision that the fee is permitted under state law, which prohibits E-ZPass from profiting from fines.

Customers can pay a $1 fee every other month to have their statements sent to them, or $6 for a year to have statements sent monthly.

Most people who use E-ZPass might not bother to check their monthly statements. But forget to update that credit card after it expires and you could be in for a shock.

Motorists made 431 pothole damage claims related to state highways in 2016. Less than 3 percent were accepted as valid claims and paid out, according to the New Jersey Department of the Treasury.

The days of South Jersey marching to a toll-road beat that's set entirely elsewhere in the state would end, if shore-sponsored state legislation is enacted.
