I’m so pumped up. I can hardly believe it. I’ve just learned from moviemaker.com that a dream that I’ve had for 30 years (since 1990) is actually going to come true.

Francis Ford Coppola is reworking The Godfather: Part 3.

For all Godfather movie fans. I never thought we’d ever see this actually happen.

Big news.

New title. New beginning. New ending. And, other edits.

The new title will be:

The Godfather, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone.

A limited theatrical release is coming in December, 2020.

I’m genuinely excited about this.

This is also personal for me. First, I love the trilogy. But, always felt that there was so much potential to properly end this iconic story in Part 3.

I’ve always considered it a missed opportunity.

Second, I was the senior hotel executive for then Trump Castle Casino Resort by the Bay at the time Part 3 was being filmed.

The iconic helicopter - mob boardroom scene was filmed at The Trump Castle. I watched it from one of President Trump’s finest suites.

It was like a dream to be able to watch part of a Godfather movie being made. And, I was given a ring-side seat for some of the best action in the movie.

My dear friend Tom Cantone was there, too. Tom writes about it in the recently updated version of his great book titled, “Book ‘Em.”

At the time, Tom was the Senior Corporate Vice President for all of then Trump Hotels & Casino Resort.

I also invited my twin Brother Don to join us. The twins ate twin lobster tails and watched part of The Godfather: Part 3 bring made.

It was a pinch me, magical and surreal moment.

Here are some notes from moviemaker.com:

“Francis Ford Coppola will release a re-edited version of his often-maligned The Godfather: Part III that will include a new beginning, new ending, and new title: The Godfather, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone.”

“Coppola said the film will better reflect his intentions for the third film in the series, released in 1990, to mark its 30th anniversary. He plans a limited December theatrical release.”

“‘Mario Puzo’s The Godfather, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone is an acknowledgement of Mario’s and my preferred title and our original intentions for what became The Godfather: Part III,’” said Coppola. “For this version of the finale, I created a new beginning and ending, and rearranged some scenes, shots, and music cues. With these changes and the restored footage and sound, to me, it is a more appropriate conclusion to The Godfather and The Godfather: Part II and I’m thankful to Jim Gianopulos and Paramount for allowing me to revisit it.”
