Three Arrested Following Head-on Crash, Eluding in Hammonton
Three people were arrested Tuesday following a head-on crash in a van that was reported to be stolen.
Mullica Township Police say their officers stopped a Green Toyota minivan near Route 30 and 7th Street Tuesday. According to authorities, the vehicle sped-off erratically heading west on the White Horse Pike into Hammonton. Cops say the van was stolen out of Philadelphia.
The minivan proceeded to cause a head-on crash with another vehicle at the intersection of Pleasant Mills Road and Route 30 in Hammonton. That vehicle was driven by a 65-year-old man Hammonton who suffered moderate injuries.
Three people in the van, two men and one woman, fled the scene following the crash. Police say all three were apprehended within 40 minutes.
19-year-old Antonio Villalongo of Philadelphia, the driver, was charged with eluding, assault by auto, and receiving stolen property; he was released on a summons. He was also issued various motor vehicle summonses.
18-year-old Kenneth E. Day, Jr., of Philadelphia was charged with eluding police by flight; he was released on a summons.
Police say charges are pending on a juvenile female passenger.
