The Cape May County Health Department said on Tuesday two more people have died as a result of COVID-19.

Officials say the two were a 57-year-old man and a 62-year-old man from Woodbine.

With today's announcement, 27 people have now died from the virus; 379 people have tested positive with 102 currently considered active.

As of Monday, Middle Township has the highest number of active cases in the county at 22 and Upper Township has 19.

In a press release, Cape May County Freeholder Jeff Pierson said, "Our thoughts are with the families. We know certain people are at higher risk of severe illness or death from COVID-19 including older adults and people who have serious chronic medical conditions."

Tuesday's update from the county comes as Avalon and Stone Harbor announced their beaches will be reopening Friday. North Wildwood and Wildwood made a similar announcement Tuesday evening.
