Two Charged; Drugs, Knives, and Taser Seized Following Traffic Stop in Wildwood
Two men from Cape May County are facing a list of charges following a traffic stop early Sunday morning in Wildwood.
According to authorities, Wildwood Police conducted a motor vehicle stop in the 100 West block of Poplar Avenue around 1:30 early Sunday morning. In the vehicle were the driver, 30-year-old Daniel Thomas of Rio Grande, and the passenger, 40-year-old David Fessler of Cape May.
Police say during the stop, they searched both people and the inside of the vehicle. During those searches, 200 folds/bags of heroin and drug paraphernalia was recovered, according to police. Additionally, two spring-assisted folding knives and a Taser were found.
The Wildwood Police Department says the drugs were packaged for street level sales and they had an estimated street value of $2,000.
Thomas was charged with possession of heroin, possession of a weapon, possession of narcotics paraphernalia, and possession of a hypodermic syringe.
Fessler was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin W/I to distribute, possession of heroin W/I to distribute within 1000’ of school property, possession of heroin W/I 500’ of certain public property, possession of a weapon (two counts), certain person not to possess weapons, possession of narcotics paraphernalia, and possession of a hypodermic syringe.
Thomas’ and Fessler’s criminal charges were issued on criminal summons complaints and they were released pending a future court appearance in accordance with the Attorney General's guidelines.
