Two national retailers with stores in New Jersey are planning to close underperforming stores in the near future.

First up is Union, NJ,-headquartered Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Shareholders received a letter from the company stating, "underperforming stores are expected to close or relocate in the near future." The letter also mentioned that it was "refreshing" all of their stores before the holiday season.

The company would not specify which, if any, New Jersey stores would be relocated or closed.

Secondly, attention gamers: Game Stop announced Wednesday that they are planning to close between 180 and 200 underperforming stores by the end of its fiscal year. A bad earnings report brought on the decision to shut down some locations.

Once again, no specific stores have been targeted.
