U.S. Attorney: NJ Teacher Charged With Distributing Child Pornography
United States Attorney (for New Jersey) Philip R. Sellinger has confirmed that a Hudson County grade school teacher has been charged with distributing child pornography.
A federal judge in Newark, New Jersey has ordered the detention of Anselmo Girimonte of Wharton, New Jersey following his arrest by the United States Department of Homeland Security … by members of the Homeland Security Investigations.
Sellinger confirmed that the arrest took place on Friday, March 4, 2022.
Girimonte "distributed material containing images and video files of child sexual abuse, via a publicly available online peer-to-peer file-sharing network of linked computers." according to Sellinger.
The U.S. Attorney also said that there were "multiple visual depictions of prepubescent children being sexually abused by adults."
Girimonte, 51, has revealed on his own social media account, that he has been a grade school teacher at the Kearny School District since 2006
Sellinger directly credited the following law enforcement partners for the arrest of Girimonte as follows:
- U.S. Department of Homeland Security, New Jersey Division, HSI.
- Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.
- Rockaway Township Police Department
- United States Postal Inspection Service.
Sellinger also confirmed that Assistant U.S. Attorney Camila A. Garces of the Violent Crimes Unit in Newark, New Jersey will handle the case against Girimonte.
