Authorities say it was a man from Cumberland County who died Monday afternoon when his ultra-light aircraft crashed near a small airport in Franklin Township.

The Daily Journal reports the body of 64-year-old Gerard Asselta of Vineland was found under the aircraft's wreckage near the intersection of Harding Highway and Tuckahoe Road.

The report says the aircraft may have taken-off from a home in the area of Union Road in Vineland and witnesses report seeing the ultra-light near Downstown Airport, but it's not known if he was actually trying to land there.

Video shows pieces of the aircraft scattered across a wooded area.

An investigation into the accident continues.
