It appears COVID-19 has shut down one of the country's oldest Thanksgiving Day football rivalries.

The Vineland-Millville high school football game, which has been played since 1894, will not be played on the holiday due to COVID-19 concerns.

The two schools hope to be able to play the game on Thanksgiving weekend.

Vineland leads the series 67-62-19, including winning the four straight games.  Last year Vineland won a wild game, 27-26 at Wheaton Field.

Both teams are 2-3 this season.

Vineland was set to play Timber Creek and Notre Dame; those two games have been cancelled.
