A Sicklerville man who had active warrants out for his arrest was found with a gun during a traffic stop in Camden County, according to police.

Jahlil R. Sheilds-Brown of Sicklerville, NJ, Arrested

On the afternoon of June 26th, the Berlin Police Department says one of their officers conducted a traffic stop on Cross Keys Road for an equipment violation.

During the course of the stop, authorities learned that the driver, 28-year-old Jahlil R. Sheilds-Brown of Sicklerville, was wanted out of Camden County and had other active warrants for his arrest.

Sheilds-Brown allegedly denied officers a request to search his vehicle, however, a "sniff" test by a police K9 gave a positive alert for the presence of narcotics.

Officials say during the course of a probable cause search of the vehicle, a loaded 9mm handgun was located under the driver’s seat.

Sheilds-Brown was taken into custody and charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, certain persons to not possess a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and large capacity magazine.

He was remanded to the Camden County Jail.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
