The end result of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) spending three days in Atlantic City, New Jersey this week may be changing in real time.

Initially, the belief was that HUD would meet with underserved residents of the various Atlantic City apartment complexes and perform other inspections … and, then develop a corrective action plan … giving the local government the opportunity to work on solutions to the many problems going forward.

However, the conditions as they presently exist are so poor that the entire Atlantic City Housing Authority may be abolished, or, HUD may take it over and install a new leader to fix the significant problems that have been allowed to deteriorate for a number of years.

Residents have been living in substandard conditions … without proper working HVAC, in rodent and bug infested conditions.

The Atlantic City Housing Authority is also drawing a lot of attention for firing former executive Director Matt Doherty.

Doherty was competent and he was in the process of uncovering corruption and mismanagement.

Doherty has previously revealed some of his findings to the public.

Doherty well shortly there after fired with our cause. Doherty is pursuing litigation against the Atlantic City Housing Authority.

Yesterday, Tuesday, December 12, 2023, the Atlantic City Housing Authority fired their Qualified Purchasing Agent on Trever day that the federal HUD arrived to Atlantic City for three days of interviews and inspection.

Robert Campbell was paid a salary of $ 100,000 to be the purchasing agent in name only.

Instead, the Atlantic City Housing Authority has decided to pay an outside contractor more than $ 400,000 to the duties that the full time purchasing agent should have handled.

Campbell is also preparing to file litigation against the Atlantic City Housing Authority.

The federal HUD will be in Atlantic City through Thursday, December 14, 2023.

Rarely is the problem ever the solution. The Atlantic City Housing Authority has been a big problem for years.

It remains to be seen if the federal government will allow them to be a part of the solution regarding the many substandard issues that currently exist?
