In honor of Thanksgiving Day, 2023, we thought that we would review some of the worst political decisions/hijinks of 2023 … that we’re calling “Political Turkeys.”

Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small could own the list with the bizarre year that he has had. Here are just a few of the Small happenings:

ATLANTIC CITY MAYOR MARTY SMALL & ATLANTIC CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS SUPERINTENDENT LA’ QUETTA SMALL

This husband and wife duo have had a doozy of a year!

Kicking Stockton University out of the Atlantic City boathouse and jeopardizing their rowing season.

This was a disgraceful and unnecessary act. Fortunately, the City of Brigantine saved the day and Stockton’s rowing season.

The City of Atlantic City struck again and almost cost the Stockton University men’s ice hockey team their season … for failure to approve their ice rink rental time agreement at the Atlantic City Skate Zone.

With one day to spare, along with our polite encouragement, Stockton’s ice hockey season was saved.

However, just 7 games into the season, the Atlantic City Skate Zone banned head coach Alan Rhodes from their premises.

This led Stockton University to fire Rhoads, because of the circumstances of having a coach, who wasn’t allowed to attend practices or home games.

JOHN DEVLIN

Marty and La’Quetta Small both struck in 2023 against John Devlin.

Devlin was a long-time member of both the Atlantic City Board of Education and Atlantic City Municipal Utilities Authority.

Devlin has been publicly critical of both of The Small’s on a regular basis … detailing mistakes made at both the city and board of education.

In unprecedented fashion, The Small’s led efforts to have Devlin removed from both board positions.

Devlin has retained an accomplished and aggressive attorney in David Castellani, who has had great success winning cases against the City of Atlantic City.

Atlantic City Councilman George Tibbitt has publicly apologized to Devlin saying that “Mayor Small lied to us. We owe John Devlin a public apology,” said Tibbitt … who then proceeded to issue a public, on-air apology to Devlin.

Devlin is also a career, retired Atlantic City Police Officer.

Atlantic County area Democrats have earned many “political turkeys” during 2023.

ATLANTIC COUNTY COMMISSIONER CAREN FITZPATRICK

The outgoing Atlantic County Commissioner has a really bad year, politically speaking.

Fitzpatrick took radical and unpopular public positions and was in favor of defunding the police, illegal immigration and was a staunch supporter of the massive ocean wind turbines … that most of the region vehemently opposed.

Fitzpatrick also sanctioned the disgusting $ 4 million-plus negative campaign that was waged against New Jersey Senator Vince Polistina.

Polistina defeated Fitzpatrick by a wide margin on November 7, 2023.

Fitzpatrick will leave office on December 31, 2023 at 12:00 midnight.

ATLANTIC COUNTY SHERIFF ERIC SCHEFFLER

The two-term Atlantic County Sheriff was defeated by challenger Joe O’Donoghue by a wide margin on November 7, 2023.

Scheffler abandoned the focus of being a law man and instead assigned his attention on being a social services agency.

O’Donoghue ran a brilliant and focused campaign, promising to restore the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Department as a law enforcement agency.

Just like Fitzpatrick, Scheffler refused to criticize the filthy and dishonest Democrat media campaign that was waged in the 2023 General Election.

I commend Scheffler on his Atlantic County Hope One, social services efforts and hope that he continues to do this.

Scheffler has publicly stated that he intends to do so. This is important work and it is much needed.

“JERSEY FREEDOM” SUPER POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE

While not a person, this is one of the biggest losers in New Jersey political history.

This shady PAC, based out of Jamaica, New York spent more than $ 3 million to attack Senator Polistina.

It is the worst $ 3 million ever spent in Atlantic County history. It delivered exactly no victories for Democrats … as Republicans swept every single race at the County and State level … along with just about every local race in 23 municipalities.

It was the single greatest election day for Republicans in Atlantic County history.

There are so many more “Political Turkeys” that could be awarded, however, in the spirit of the Thanksgiving Day holiday, let’s just leave it at this for now and we’ll revisit it again in the near future.

I want to wish you and yours a very happy, safe and blessed Thanksgiving Day.
