The statistics are undeniable. Youth violence is increasing precipitously since Larry Krasner became the district attorney in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Krasner took office in January, 2018. He ran as a “progressive prosecutor.” He ran under a platform of reducing incarceration. Krasner moved to eliminate cash bail, reduced supervision for those on parole and regularly seeks reduced sentencing for various crimes.

So, it should come as no surprise that violent crime is completely out of control in the once City of Brotherly Love.

Since Krasner became the district attorney, here are the youth gun violent incidents, according to statistics that were compiled by axios.com (Philadelphia).

  • 2018 = 119
  • 2019 = 119
  • 2020 = 197
  • 2021 = 213
  • 2022 = 181 (with the entire 4th Quarter remaining).

These statistics include youth gun violence (18 years old and younger) relating to shootings and homicides.

The spotlight on this crisis grew even brighter, when last week, a 14-year-old was killed and four others were wounded following a football game at Roxborough high school.

The number of youth gun victims this partial year totals all such incidents combined in the years 2015 and 2016.

Last year (2021)  set a record for youth violence in Philadelphia. And this year is on pace to exceed last year

Many see Krasner and his permissive policies as a big part of the current culture of violence in Philadelphia … both youth and adult violent incidents are on the rise.
