Mystery Christmas Trees On Margate, Longport, EHT Roads

There has been a Christmas time mystery that has been playing out for more than 35 years.

One tree has been decorated on the Margate, New Jersey Causeway and a second tree right by the sign at the foot of the former Assemblywoman Dolores Cooper Bridge.

My wife Margie and I took a drive to both locations on Sunday, December 10, 2023.

There is not a decorated Christmas tree at either location, yet.

Retired Atlantic City police officer Don Hurley lived in Margate more than three decades ago.

Don says that the Margate tree has been decorated for the past 35 years or more.

I must say that I love long-standing traditions. This mysterious tradition is a great one.

I’m not sure how long the Longport/Egg Harbor Township tree has been decorated.

I’m  a very curious person and I enjoy solving mysteries.

However, regarding these two Christmas tree mysteries, I like it just how it is.

At some point each year someone decorates the trees … I’m not suggesting that it’s the same person(s) who decorate both trees.

I have no idea who does it, but, I know that I like it very much.

I sure do hope that this great tradition continues this year, however, there’s only a short time until Christmas.

Perhaps this article will inspire someone to keep the tradition alive.

I’m not encouraging anyone to place themselves on two busy highways and decorate these two trees.

I’m merely pointing out that people have kept this fun tradition going for nearing four decades.

Ocean City, New Jersey has a great tradition with decorated Christmas trees being placed on the beach.

It’s totally unexpected and it looks great.

There are presently at least 5 decorated Christmas trees on the Ocean City beaches at this time.
