Teens Crash and Burn Stolen Car Running From Galloway ,NJ, Police

Three teens are lucky to still be alive after crashing a stolen car they were riding in while trying to elude Galloway Township Police early Thursday.

According to a post on Facebook, a Galloway Township Police officer saw a suspicious car driving at a high speed just after 4 AM Thursday near Sterling Court and 2nd Ave.

As the vehicle made an abrupt turn and sped away, heading south on 2nd Ave., Galloway Police Sgt. Kevin Costa was able to see the car's plate and realized the vehicle was stolen.

The officer followed with his lights and siren blazing and saw the stolen car turn eastbound on White Horse Pike.

Sgt. Costa pursued the 2013 Honda Accord into Absecon, where the driver lost control of the vehicle near Home Depot, leaving the road and coming to rest in a marshy area on the north side of the highway.

The police officer ran over to the car occupied by the three male teens as the car began to catch fire. Two of the teens were able to get out of the car on their own while Sgt. Costa pulled the driver, who was unconscious, out to safety.

All three teens were taken to the Atlanticare Medical Center City Division, Trauma Center. The two passengers were treated and released to parents or guardians. The 16-year-old driver was admitted and treated for shock and a head injury.

A gun was later found hidden in the Honda Accord.

A 16-year-old male from Hammonton, a 16-year-old male from Atlantic City, and a 15-year-old male from Pleasantville are facing multiple criminal and motor vehicle charges.
