A 62-year-old man in a wheelchair was killed on the Black Horse Pike in Egg Harbor Township Wednesday evening.

Authorities say the accident happened just after 7:00 at Delancy Avenue.

According to the Egg Harbor Township Police Department, a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder being driven by 59-year-old Santos Acosta-Arias of Pleasantville was making a left turn from the Pike to Delancy Avenue when he struck 62-year-old Ernest Miller of Egg Harbor Township, who was in a wheelchair, crossing Delancy.

Miller was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Santos was found to be an unlicensed driver and was issued a criminal summons for causing death while driving unlicensed as well as multiple traffic summonses.

Traffic was detoured for approximately four hours while the crash was being investigated and cleared.

Second Fatal Accident in EHT Within 24 Hours

This was the second fatal pedestrian-vehicle accident along the same stretch of roadway within 24 hours.

At 12:15 early Wednesday morning, 78-year-old Leon Barrett of Pleasantville, who was walking on the Black Horse Pike at Oak Tree Drive, was struck and killed by Nathaniel Lolley of Wilmington, DE, who was driving an SUV.

Investigations Continue
