A two-car accident just after noon Friday in Margate claimed the life of a 90-year-old woman.

Margate Police say the accident happened at the intersection of Jerome and Amherst Avenues.

A vehicle being driven by an 80 year old man from Cinnaminson New Jersey and his passenger, a 90 year old woman from Cherry Hill, NJ were attempting to make a left hand turn onto Amherst Avenue when another vehicle traveling north towards the Margate toll plaza collided with it. The passenger was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for treatment but later on passed away from her injuries at the hospital.

No identities have been released by Margate Police. The accident remains under investigation.
