If you live in, work in, or drive through the city of Northfield, you may have encountered large groups of young bike riders getting awful close to traffic.

Northfield Police have issued a statement about kids riding their bikes in traffic, seemingly at cars. They have received a number of citizen complaints about the practice. Police refer to it as "swerving."

In some people's day, something similar may have been referred to as "playing chicken."

Police say they have spoken to several kids about the dangerous behavior, and they are urging parents to speak with their children about riding in a safe manner.

It doesn't appear that police have issued any tickets yet, but they say that, "Enforcement action is the next step to ensure the safety of the juveniles and the motoring public."
