Absecon Man Arrested in Atlantic City on Weapons Charges
An Absecon man is facing weapons charges after fleeing from detectives in Atlantic City while holding a handgun, according to police.
Detectives from the Special Investigations Section of the ACPD attempted to stop 30-year-old Torrence Thompson of Absecon in the 700 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard in Atlantic City around 7:00 Wednesday morning. Copy says Thompson fled from officers and removed a handgun from his jacket pocket. In the 700 block of Green Street, Thompson threw the gun underneath a vehicle. He was eventually arrested without incident after attempting to hide in the yard of a residence. The handgun, loaded with hollow-point ammunition, was recovered.
Thompson is facing various weapons charges along with obstruction of justice and resisting arrest; he was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
