Academy Award-winning actress filming movie around Atlantic City, NJ

Just weeks after actor Timothée Chalamet and the cast of A Complete Unknown spent a week shooting scenes in Cape May, Oscar-winning actress Shirley MacLaine is filming her upcoming movie around Atlantic City.

The Movie People Not Places Filming in South Jersey

MacLaine, who recently turned 90, told Extra in April that she would be celebrating the big day on set in Atlantic City.

People Not Places also stars Stephen Dorff, of Blade and True Detective, and is directed by Brad Furman, who also directed The Lincoln Lawyer” It was written by Furman's mother, Ellen Brown Furman.

Imdb.com describes the script as "a sprightly woman in her twilight years strikes up an unlikely friendship with a local homeless man while struggling to mend a troubled relationship with her son".

"It's a wonderful script and we are getting ready to start and will see what happens," MacLaine told People.

MacLaine is known for her Academy Award-winning role in the 1983 film Terms of Endearment, as well as movies like The Apartment, Postcards from the Edge, and Steel Magnolias.

Filming Featuring Atlantic City's Ducktown Neighborhood, Tennessee Avenue

Last week, MacLaine was seen filming on Tennessee Avenue near King's Pub, the former Pic-A-Lilli Inn.

Monday's shooting centered around Arctic Avenue's White House Subs, Pancho's Mexican Taqueria, and Formica Freitag Bakery.

While some commenting on social media enjoyed watching the movie-making process, including the movie's use of "fake rain" for one scene, others were more concerned about how the movie shoot inconvenienced them.

They tied up the entire block on Fairmount Ave on Monday, at White House ... turn away to Baltic, go 4 block in the wrong direction and turn around. No signs, I was a half hour late for work.

 

Movie Scenes to Be Shot in Margate

Dino's Subs posted on Facebook about People Not Places using the Ventnor Avenue shop to shoot scenes on Wednesday.

Hollywood called and Dino’s answered!! They will be filming a movie inside Dino’s on Wednesday only! We will be opened for takeout, pickup and delivery via the tents on the side Granville Ave. NO INSIDE DINING Wednesday only.

The movie is also scheduled to do some shooting in Pleasantville.
