
Atlantic City Man Sentenced in Armed Robbery, Gun Cases
Atlantic City, N.J. — An Atlantic City man is headed to prison in connection with several robbery and firearms incidents.
On Tuesday, 40-year-old Robert Arroyo was sentenced to an aggregate term of 10 years in state prison, with an 8 1/2-year period of parole ineligibility, after pleading guilty to two counts of first-degree robbery and one count of unlawful possession of a weapon/handgun without a permit.
Family Dispute
According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, on February 9th, 2025, officers with the Ventnor Police Department were dispatched in response to a report of a disturbance. While at the scene, Arroyo told officers that because family members were arguing, he retrieved a gun from his home and was now in possession of it. Cops observed a black handgun in his back pocket, for which he did not have a permit.
Robbing the Same Liquor Store Twice
On April 4th, 2025, Atlantic City Police Department officers were dispatched to Pat's Liquor Store in response to a report of an armed robbery. The victim stated that the suspect entered the store, went to the cooler, grabbed a six-pack of beer, and placed it on the counter. The suspect then said that he needed to grab money from his car. When he returned, he pointed a gun at the victim and ordered him to open both cash registers. The victim complied, and the suspect took approximately $1,000.
The suspect was later identified as Arroyo through surveillance and facial recognition technology, but he could not be located.
On April 26th, 2025, ACPD officers were again called to Pat's Liquor Store for a report of an armed robbery. There, they spoke with the victim, who stated that a man had entered the store, grabbed a beer, and, when approaching the register to pay, instead produced a black handgun and pointed it at him. The suspect then demanded that the victim open both cash registers and a safe from which money was taken.
The suspect was later identified as Arroyo through surveillance. He was apprehended three days later.
