The state of New Jersey has done the absolute wrong thing regarding the criminal trial date assigned to Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small.

E-Mail Was Sent Out Yesterday

At the end of the day, at 3:56 p.m., a New Jersey Courts employee (Melissa McGee) sent out an e-mail as follows:

Good afternoon,

Marty Small will be going to trial on 11/10/25.

La'quetta Small is going to trial on 12/1/25.

Why Is The Marty Small Criminal Trial Scheduled To Begin On November 10, 2015?

We can’t ignore the fact that General Election Day will take place on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. That’s 6 days before the Marty Small criminal trial.

Coincidence?

That’s nearly impossible to believe. The state of New Jersey should have made certain that a trial take place prior to Election Day.

The Atlantic City voting public deserves to know before Election Day whether or not their Mayor is convicted of multiple child abuse charges and witness tampering.

If Marty Small Is Convicted — It Will Create An Election Nightmare Scenario

The state of New Jersey is well aware of the following facts:

If Marty Small is convicted — he will be removed from office.

What Happens Next?

Should Marty Small be convicted and removed from office — Atlantic City Council President Aaron “Sporty” Randolph would immediately become Acting Mayor of Atlantic City.

Multiple sources have said that Randolph is rooting for Small to be convicted and removed from office.

Atlantic City Democrat Committee

Will recommend three candidates to City Council. City Council will next vote to select a new Mayor.

A New Election Will Be Called For

The citizens of Atlantic City will have the opportunity in a special election to vote for a new Mayor.

All Of This Could Have Been Avoided

If only the state of New Jersey didn’t purposely wait until 6 days after Election Day to hold the criminal trial of Marty Small.

Marty Small may likely go into his criminal trial as the newly minted (re-elected) Mayor of Atlantic City … only to potentially be removed from office, should he be convicted of any of these criminal charges:

  • second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
  • third-degree Terroristic Threats.
  • third-degree Aggravated Assault.
  • witness tampering.

Ironically:

This is how Small became Mayor of Atlantic City. Small was the Atlantic City Council President when former Mayor Frank Gilliam was removed from office following his criminal conviction.
